Today, we want to talk about something really important: Men’s Mental Health.
In the UK, one in eight men are suffering from a mental health illness and 3 out of 4 suicide victims are men. These are scary statistics. And, it’s something that we don’t seem to be talking about in day to day life. We know why it’s not spoken about, it’s because it’s not a nice topic but it’s so important that we do talk about your mental health in order to reduce those scary statistics.
We need to talk about your mental health.
Digitool will be supporting Movember, a charity which helps men suffering from mental health issues and encourages guys to talk about how they are feeling. Watch the video to see why it’s so important that we tackle this problem.

As business owners, you are so much more likely to experience, stress, pressure, depression and even suicidal thoughts. We need to tackle this.
It’s coming up to your Christmas, which is a lot of business owners busiest time of the year. Whilst being busy can be great for business, it can take a strain on your mental health. Here are a few tips to look after yourself and health this Christmas:
Don’t work too much.
It’s important to book up the diary, but do remember to say ‘no’ to work if there is too much on. Remember to schedule in time for yourself and spend time with loved ones – that is what Christmas is about after all.
Get plenty of sleep.
You need 8 hours of sleep. There no competition for being the worker bee that is up at 4 AM and coming home at 10 PM. It will cause strain on your health, mentally and physically and can cause stress on relationships.
Don’t compare yourself to other business owners.
Having friends in similar industries is great (we find online forums are a great way to find like-minded business owners) however, you will find at this time of year people are very keen to let you know how busy they are. It’s OK if you are not as busy. Do not compare yourself to any other business, it’s toxic.
Talk about how you are feeling.
The most important thing that we can do to tackle mental health is to talk about it. If you are not feeling good, speak to your loved ones, a problem shared is a problem halved. Or, if you want to speak to someone anonymously you can call the Samaritans on 116 123.
Remember to look after yourself rather than just your business and your customers this Christmas. Without you, your business couldn’t run. So it’s crucial you look after yourself.
Digitool is going to sponsoring Movember, a charity which helps mental health. We are going to giving money and raise awareness this Christmas.
